PURITY THROUGH FIRE is proud to present EISENKULT‘s highly anticipated second album, …vom Himmel, hoch herab, on CD, A5 digipack, vinyl LP, and cassette tape formats. If you never heard about this project, you should know one thing: It came to stay!
It was but a year ago when EISENKULT made their bolt-from-the-blue debut statement with …gedenken wir der Finsternis. A blood pact shared among members of MAVORIM, TOTENWACHE, and MUECHELMORD, it was only logical for PURITY THROUGH FIRE to further the propaganda with the release of EISENKULT’s debut album. Perhaps not surprisingly, …gedenken wir der Finsternis gleamed with the righteous steel of Teutonic black metal: pure, proud, and traditional!
Wasting no time keeping that enviable momentum going, EISENKULT‘s second full-length strike arrives 11 months later bearing the title …vom Himmel, hoch herab. Once again boasting an evocative 8-bit-style intro, the listener is immediately whisked away to forgotten realms as the power-trio plunge into stoutly second-wave classicism, here even more folkloric and fantastical than their not-inconsiderable debut album. With this power trio PURITY THROUGH FIRE is releasing some ingenious.
The songwriting is stunning. The sound has a lot of energy and essence from the 90’s Black Metal, but also brings a dark wave of medieval atmosphere. And whereas that debut LP shocked & awed with its succinct 28-minute runtime, here with the 42-minute …vom Himmel, hoch herab from EISENKULT reveal the full splendor of their powers, deftly moving from anthemic mid-tempos to mystical swooshes of speed. All of this mixed with high quality of the arrangements and the identity of the bands involved in that criminal act.
Likewise, the production across this album is gritty-yet-clear, convincingly mid-to-late ’90s as its content. If you know the bands involved, like in my case I have been listening a lot to Totenwache and Meuchelmord, so I was expecting to find some elements in this project and THEY ARE THERE! So it is highly recommended if you didn’t check this one yet, it is a MUST.
Some songs demand some attention like “Ein Brunnen voller Aas ” with high speed bullet beats and “Eisenkult” that carries the band name. The album is out this month (June) and we have to mention the 2D intro and outro. I liked the idea. It made us feel that we are inside a RPG 2D game. That is the feeling. “Ein Leib, ein Feuer ” brings a lot of energy and has a second wave style. It really looks like a Totenwache song, we have some melodic aspects, but the BM runs cold in the background. A mix of feelings and a lot of levels of violence and hate.
